raquel's portrait

Several years ago, Raquel’s passion for nature appeared when, during a Botany class at Santa Monica College, the professor took the students into the beautiful Santa Monica Mountains to discover plants in their most natural state.

At the time, Raquel worked as a secretary for a commercial landscape maintenance firm. Growing restless inside the office, hearing the call of the plants outside, she was given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with plants and irrigation, and ended up managing 130 commercial landscape sites. Simultaneously, she enrolled in the horticulture program at Mt. San Antonio College. The combination of work and school led her to acquire her Qualified Applicator License, arborist certificate and an AS in Integrated Pest Management.

Along the way, she has established incredible friendships. She credits her success to her friends and professors at Mt. SAC, for they saw in her the drive and determination needed to become a professional in the green industry. She works for FNA as a part-time associate whenever the opportunity arises.
